Meet Animal OrthoCare & Bionic Pets: A Glimpse Into the Nascent World of Animal Prosthetics

Special thanks to Derrick Campana and his staff, Angela and Jen, for allowing me to capture all original audio and images. Guest appearances by Derrick’s dog, Henry, and Angela’s dogs, Oakley and Stella.

Also, thank you to these special animals and their owners:

Lulu, a 7-year-old female, Newfoundland. Lulu’s owner is Kathy Holshey from Fairfax, VA. Lulu tore her ACL, otherwise known as a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL)  in dogs and she received a stifle brace for this condition.

Pluto, a 6-month-old male, Pitbull. Pluto’s owner is Karen Conlon from Frederick, MD. Pluto has a congenital deformity and received a forelimb prosthesis.

Winston, an 11-year-old male cat. Winston’s owner is from Frederick, MD. Winston was born with a congenital deformity and is fitted with an able-bodied prosthesis.

Nomi, 3-year-old female, Great Dane. Nomi’s owner is Caitlin Flory from Jessup, MD. Nomi has a congenital deformity called ectrodactyly and is fitted with a forelimb prosthesis.

Derrick and his team are seeing great success and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors!
